Three individuals were arrested on Friday from Fulbari and Dabgram in connection with a cyber fraud case. The arrests were made in a joint operation by Bidhannagar Police and NJP Police. The accused have been identified as Nasir Ahmed and Ruksar Bibi, residents of Dhanatala West in Fulbari, and Roni Rana, a resident of Notun Basti, Satellite Township in Dabgram. All three have been booked under charges related to cyber fraud.
According to the police, the accused were allegedly renting out their bank accounts to others for financial transactions linked to cyber fraud. This method is being increasingly used by fraudsters to avoid direct tracing by law enforcement. The operation was carried out based on specific leads received during an ongoing investigation. Following the arrests, the accused were presented before the Jalpaiguri court on the same day.
The court granted transit remand to Bidhannagar Police, allowing them to take the accused to Kolkata for further investigation. The probe is expected to continue to identify other individuals or networks involved in similar activities. Police have stated that the use of rented bank accounts is becoming a common tactic in cybercrime operations.
